    We owe so much to these forward looking historical preservationists who saved the 1833 Old Bank Building from the urban renewal wrecking ball in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Also, 2025 is the 60th anniversary of of the 1965 election of Dr. Fred Sabin as the first LF Historical Society president.

Originally an 1833 bank, the building where The Little Falls Historical Society Museum is located in Herkimer County, New York, was converted and restored to house thousands of artifacts, family records, and relics of the past. The museum is an educational, eye-opening experience, suitable for all ages.

Growing Up on The Southside 1957 – 1970 by Gary T. Staffo

For the past 8 years I have had the privilege of conducting a history and storytelling tour, “Growing Up on The Southside 1957 – 1970.”

It is important to understand how and why this tour started. It was to have a better understanding of why the “Southside” of Little Falls, NY has such a very special and perhaps unique place in the hearts of each and all who have had the privilege of growing up there during the “baby boomers” period, and those who followed, up until perhaps the late 1970s, when it’s aura and special ethnic qualities faded away.
